Shuls & Batei Medrash

Shul and beis medrash construction

New shuls, batei medrash and shtieblach, additions and renovations.

A shul is used every day, from early-morning minyanim to late-night learning, Shabbos and Yom Tov. It has to be built to handle that, and to feel like a makom kadosh.

ELC Construction builds new shuls and batei medrash, adds on to existing buildings and renovates spaces that have outgrown their kehilla, across Rockland County and the Hudson Valley.

Shul, beis medrash, bais medrash, beis hamedrash or shtiebel: whatever your kehilla calls it, this is the work we do.

What we do

  • New shuls and batei medrash

Ground-up buildings planned around your kehilla: the main shul, ezras nashim, beis medrash, offices and the spaces in between.

  • Additions and expansions

More seats, a larger ezras nashim, a new beis medrash or a kiddush room, tied into the existing building.

  • Renovations

New finishes, lighting, heating and cooling, restrooms and washing stations for a shul that is busy all day.

  • Shtieblach and home shuls

Smaller minyanim and shtieblach in homes and storefronts, done properly and to code.

Building around davening

A shul rarely closes for construction. We plan the work around minyanim, Shabbos and Yom Tov, and agree with the gabbaim on the schedule before anything starts.

Building committees often include many voices. Regular updates keep everyone on the same page, with one contact who answers for the whole job.
